About me
Johan von Mirbach is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, journalist and author. His work takes him around the world and he speaks fluent English, Spanish and French. He also makes appearances in front of the camera and narrates his own documentaries, as well as those of other filmmakers. His clients include the broadcast channels ARD, ZDF, arte, WDR, NDR and 3sat. His films are marketed internationally and sold worldwide.
Von Mirbach also advises international organizations on media matters, makes appearances as a speaker and discusses the topics of his films on stage. He co-developed and set up the multimedia format "The 77 Percent" for Deutsche Welle. With his expertise in filmmaking, he continues to support the production of this program for young Africans.
Von Mirbach's work primarily explores the topics of climate change, social change, transport and health. He also has a special focus on international white-collar crime.
He was nominated for European Journalist of the Year in 2021 (Prix Europa) and won the German Nature Film Award in 2018 with "Die geheimen Machenschaften der Ölindustrie" ("Smoke&fumes - The Climate Change Cover Up"), as well as the Audience Award at the Nature Film Festival in 2021 with #dieselgate. In 2023, he received the German Environmental Aid Media Award for "Wie gelingt die Verkehrswende - Metropolen in Bewegung" ("Transforming City Transport").
